In my last post I talked about The Law of Attraction and how The Law of Awareness actually makes it work.
Our thoughts make us aware of things that were always there but we did not notice them before or recognize them as opportunities.
Our thoughts also cause us to change our outer personal that causes others to notice us, that is become aware of us.
The things we want to attract are already there we just need to open our minds to them.
That is why the Law of Attraction does not work in isolation. We need to take action and mingle with the world.
You can think good thoughts until you turn blue in the face but if you do not manifest those thoughts into action nothing will happen except by chance.
There are billions of people in the world so there will be stories about receiving unexpected riches like a lottery win, or an inheritance or even a refund on your electrical bill, but those are just chance occurrences.
Taking action is taking control of your life and ensuring the results you want. It may be a bumpy ride but it sure beats the odds of some random chance event.
When I turned fifty I sat myself down and took a good hard look at what I was doing and if it was leading me to where I wanted to go. At that time the answer was a qualified “yes”. I say qualified because I never wrote it down. I was just unconsciously muddling my way through life knowing that I could work until I dropped if I had to.
I like to travel so when I retire my plan was to spend 30% of my time working as a self-employed accountant and the rest of the time travelling. Working part-time meant that I would have enough cash flow to live the lifestyle I wanted and I not exhaust my retirement fund before I died.
Seemed like a plan.
Then an unforeseen circumstance raised its ugly head.
My professional accounting association changed the rules. To be able to practice public accounting, which I was planning on doing in retirement, I was now required to average a certain amount of hours each year. Since I could not maintain those hours while working in private industry I had to give up my public license, as did many in my situation.
When I retire I will have to work at least three years for another public accountant full-time to get my license reinstated, assuming someone would hire me.
So now I had a dilemma.
I needed a new game plan.
I decided that I would find another home business I could do instead of compiling financial statements and tax returns.
I attended seminars, breakfast meetings, and webinars and I started to see opportunities everywhere.
Wherever I went I would take my digital camera and recorder to be able to capture whatever opportunity I ran into.
The point is that all of those opportunities were already there. They did not just suddenly manifest themselves because I was thinking about them.
So what is the moral of this story?
Take action!
If you have an opportunity you are working on, great, keep it up.
If you are thinking of starting your own home business then give me a call.
I have had some great conversations with people so far and I look forward to talking with you and listening to your story.

Hey Peter, like they say being aware there is a problem is the first step in solving it. Same with opportunities. Just being aware or on the lookout for opportunities will find you opportunities as you’ve stated. Great post!

Hi Peter, you are right. We need to take action in every aspect of our lifes to reach our objectives. The attraction law is not magical, you need to be in synchrony with it, and for this you need to take action all the time.

Hi Peter,
Life is just full of surprises and “seeing” beyond what is happening, being aware that you are aware, is important in seeing and discovering the opportunities.. I love the camera idea… I totally understand and agree, action is the key.

Peter,
I admire your openness in sharing the upset to your plans and your willingness to correct course (what choice do we really have?). And I agree with you about action.
Many clients come to see me as a psychologist and couples counselor looking for insight. I can give that to them, it’s easy as can be for me to analyze other people’s lives. However, insight is really sufficient to create change. Creating change is what creates change.
And that means ACTION. A very famous therapist once stated that “Action precedes understanding” and quite often that is the case.
Thanks so much for sharing,
Adam

I just talked about our “Warm Market” on my last post. When we walk outside our front door we walk into our “Warm Market.” I believe in sharing and taking action on the Internet and in our Local Communities.
We can do our self talk everyday, personal development everyday, but if we don’t take action all the personal development will only Feel Better about our “Lack Of Success.” (-:

Action! When there’s “smoke” in a room, it’s amazing what turning a fan on will do to “clear the air.” Action is the key to “seeing” opportunities around us and as you said, they are ALL around us when we begin actively looking. Great post and much continued success to you!

Hi Peter,
WOW – you got this post on fire! You are so correct – taking action is key…..There are days that I get a few more articles out on different sites a day, make a tutorial video or even mastermind with my team…it is all action. Actions that move me closer to my ultimate goal, while some actions are bigger then others, they are all actions.
#16 by Peter Fuller on August 25, 2010 - 8:53 pm
Hey thanks Robert,
You are a prime example of what can be done by taking action.
#17 by rebeccahappy on August 25, 2010 - 6:54 am
It is great that you put this out there…the LOA seems to get all the press and the other laws that make up our universe overlooked.
It is amazing what you see when awareness becomes active. When I take time to review my journey of change I am shocked at how much I must have been missing.
And yes…taking action has to be part of the equation. For me however..sometimes I find the abundance of it all overwhelming so I think there must be a law somewhere of having a plan/vision.

Hey Peter,
It’s a pleasure to read your insightful blog posts. This subject has been a huge a-ha for me. And as you mentioned in your last post, people are living their lives unconsciously, just going through the daily motions, with all kinds of useless thoughts buzzing around in their heads.
When you stop that noise, everything around you is so much clearer, and events that would have seemed detrimental like the one you mentioned, all of a sudden become great opportunities for change.
Great read,
Wayne

#23 by Marcus Baker on August 25, 2010 - 5:37 am
Hi Pete,
I have come to believe that everything happens exactly as it should to give us a chance to respond to whatever it is in the best way possible.
It’s never what happens to us but how we take responsibility for dealing with it. It’s not always easy and sometimes we do well and sometimes we don’t which is fine since there will always be more opportunities to practice.
As long as we take the best action possible we can at the time, we empower ourselves to move forward.
Thanks for a great read Peter!

Hi Peter,
Great post, and nice to learn a little more about your story. I’m glad you brought up this point about using the law of attraction.
I find that one of the most common ‘errors’ people make when trying to implement the Law of Attraction is forgetting to take action. Naturally the process of attracting begins with identifying what it is you want, then there’s the development of visual/emotional connection with having that item or situation, but without stepping forth and taking some action, it usually won’t lead to anything.
A good analogy would be expecting the well to spring from the ground without digging for it, even though you know there’s water there. As you say, the things we wish for are out there, but we must go out and connect with them.
Cheers,
Jym

Hi Peter,
I think action is the key to making the law of attraction work, and I know that for myself and my personal story, as soon as I started to take action in my business online, I found the resources and solutions that I was struggling to find before I started to take action. It’s really a lesson in putting one foot in front of the other and knowing that the next step will reveal itself to me, only after I’ve taken this one. Your story is wonderful and I’m glad for you that you’ve found a way to have the life you wanted.

Hey Peter,
If you set your goal but don’t take action. It is nothing but a wish. I think individuals are not taking enough action to meet their goals and then they wonder why nothing is happening.
Now, if you make a change of plan then you must take action and something will happen. Just like you did!
